Former NASA, Apollo astronaut Walter Cunningham passes away at 90

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA is honoring the life and accomplishments of one of its pioneering astronauts.

Walter Cunningham was a part of NASA’s historic Apollo 7 mission.

Cunningham spent nearly a dozen days in low-Earth orbit, in what was the first ever crewed Apollo flight.

The mission, and Cunningham’s work with NASA, paved the way for the Unites State to land astronauts on the moon.
