1 killed in Bartow crash

BARTOW, Fla. — Bartow police are investigating a fatal crash in which two people were ejected from a vehicle.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. Saturday on Martin Luther King Boulevard near US Highway 17 South.

Police said Takashemia Sanders, 36, was heading westbound on MLK Boulevard when she lost control and struck a railroad crossing, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.

The car then struck a tree, and both Sanders and her passenger, Mickal Graham, 30, were ejected from the car.

Sanders died at the scene.

Graham was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

Police believe Sanders may have been speeding before the crash.
