2 arrested in Orlando RaceTrac shooting following nearly 3-hour standoff

Orlando police have taken two men into custody who may have been involved in a shooting at a RaceTrac gas station on Semoran Boulevard.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The men were found hiding in an apartment nearby and residents in the neighborhood had to be evacuated, police said.

According to police, an officer responded to the incident at the RaceTrac just before 10 p.m. Monday, where a person was shot. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the two men ran to the apartment complex on Commander Drive after the shooting and were arrested after a standoff that lasted nearly three hours.

Police said one of the men arrested, who is believed to be the shooter, is a known gang member.

A gun was found inside the apartment, police said.

Residents were allowed back into their apartments at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The names of the men taken into custody have not been released.
