• 85-year-old diver rescued at sea off Miami coast

MIAMI - Rescuers pulled an 85-year-old south Florida man from the ocean after a diving trip went wrong.

Joe Amick was diving off the coast of Miami with his son Thursday, and when he didn't resurface for about an hour, his son called 911.

Miami Beach Fire Rescue said Amick tried to inflate his vest, but could not get it to work.

Amick was able to resurface, but had drifted so far away from his boat that he became disoriented.

"I came up and I guess I was floating around there for the best part of a half hour or more," said Amick.

Amick is expected to be OK.

Amick said he's been diving for nearly 50 years.
