Trapper catches gator believed to have eaten Orlando man's dog

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida nuisance alligator trapper Jason Daikus caught an alligator believed to have killed a pet dog in Orange County.

The alligator measured at more than 11.5 feet long.

The incident happened at the Carver Shores area of Orlando near Lescot Lane when Eric Glover and his pit bull puppy, King, were out for a morning walk.

Glover said King, who was less than a year old, was attacked around 7:30 a.m. He said he let King off the leash to chase after some birds when the gator struck.

Glover said the gator moved so quickly that his puppy didn't make a sound.

"I don't even think he knew he was hit. It was like that quick," said Glover.

Bobby Crapps, who was fishing on the lake, said he saw the aftermath of the attack.

"If he snatched my dog, I would have to go snatch him," said Crapps.

"I couldn't do nothing," Glover said. "I froze, and I am like, 'Oh, my God. That is a gator.' Like, my instincts, 'That is a gator eating my dog.' I was shocked."
