Orlando American Airlines flight forced to land in Jacksonville

A flight that was headed to Charlotte on Thursday made an emergency landing in Jacksonville.

American Airlines Flight 608 left Orlando at around 10:10 a.m. The flight was in South Georgia when it was forced to land at Jacksonville International Airport after smoke was reported in the cockpit.

The plane landed safely at 11:16 a.m. The plane had 126 passengers and a crew of six.

Fire crews and officials on the tarmac are trying to identify the problem.

An American Airlines spokesperson apologized to customers for the inconvenience, and said they're working to get passengers to North Carolina as soon as possible.
