A defense attorney was arrested Thursday after her 2-year-old child was found wandering the halls of the Osceola County Courthouse, according to sheriff's investigators.
Defense attorney Alicia Warner, 33, was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm.
Investigators said a witness at the courthouse called Thursday morning to report a young child on the fifth floor who was asking for his mother and knocking on the door to the attorney break room.
After a search of the courthouse, deputies located the child's mother on the third floor of the courthouse about 30 minutes after the initial call.
According to investigators, Warner told them that the child wasaway from her only for approximately seven minutes and they became separated when elevator doors closed before she could reach him.
Investigators said a review of courthouse video showed that Warner entered the attorney break room with her child around 8:25 a.m. They said she left alone several minutes later, returned and then left alone again 8:45 a.m.
Around 9:07 a.m. the child left the break room and tried tore-enter, but the door was locked and he began wandering the halls.
According to investigators, Warner admitted to leaving the child in the break room and said she was checking on him periodically.
Warner was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $1,000 fine. The child was released to his father.
Warner, who has a Kissimmee address, has a law office in Casselberry.
