ORLANDO, Fla. — In honor of Black History Month, 27 Community Connection honors local small business owners who are making a difference in the lives of youth in our community.
Dr. Laine Powell founded Tech Sassy Girlz to help young girls have access to tech. Throughout her college days and career she noticed that there weren’t many women, or black women for that matter in the tech world. So she made it her mission and passion to change that and started the non-profit Tech Sassy Girlz. Since then, her passion and commitment to ensuring that underrepresented and minority girls, in underserved communities have access to STEM regardless of their ZIP code. She just celebrated the organization’s 10-year anniversary and have supported over 2,500 girls. To learn more and to get involved, visit Home - Tech Sassy Girlz.
