CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Blue Origin is expanding its presence at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, announcing plans to build a second launch pad for its New Glenn rocket.
The company says Launch Complex 36-B will be designed to support a larger version of the New Glenn rocket.
Blue Origin is targeting late 2027 for the new launch pad to become operational.
The announcement comes as Blue Origin continues work at Launch Complex 36-A, where the company is cleaning up and repairing the site following a rocket explosion on the launch pad in May.
Blue Origin expects Launch Complex 36-A to be ready to support launches again later this year.
The new launch complex would give Blue Origin additional launch capacity at Cape Canaveral as the company works to expand its New Glenn program and prepare for larger versions of the rocket.
