APOPKA, Fla. — A body was found in a Seminole County lake Wednesday evening, officials said.
A resident near Cub Lake off Maitland Boulevard in Apopka called 911 after seeing someone in the water who appeared to need help.
The resident said they saw a person swimming toward the shore calling for help; there was apparently a boat in the middle of the lake.
Divers from the Seminole County Fire Rescue searched Cub Lake for about an hour until they found the body of a man who appeared to be in his 30s.
He was found on the left side of the lake.
Rescue crews never found a boat, but did find debris from a vessel.
Many residents stood outside to watch the scene unfold.
“Came down and saw a bunch of scuba divers in the lake,” said Scott Brownloe.
Florida Fish and Wildlife is taking over the investigation and is working to figure out the man’s identity.
