ORLANDO, Fla. — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida brought together about 300 community leaders and supporters on Wednesday in Orlando for its annual “Faces of the Future” breakfast.

The event gives local youth a platform to share their dreams and ambitions while raising support for programs that help children succeed in school and beyond.

Jamie Merrill, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, said the organization serves children across five counties at no cost to their families.

“The clubs open to 16,000 children across five counties, from ages 5 to 18,” Merrill said. “The breakfast is just one way we’re able to welcome children into our clubs at no charge to their families.”

Merrill also highlighted the role mentors play in helping young people find their path forward.

“We often talk about creating the pathway forward — mentors are here to help tell that story,” Merrill said.
