BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Family, friends, and first responders gathered Saturday to honor Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Agent Kevin Morris, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month.

Morris was traveling to the scene of a deputy-involved shooting in Mims when authorities said he collided head-on with a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95.

“He was a great person. It’s not a cliché with him. He was,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. “He lived every day of his life that way. Not just when he was wearing the badge, but long before he put that badge on.”

Florida’s lieutenant governor, state lawmakers, members of Congress and first responders from across the state were among those who attended Saturday’s funeral service.

Morris was remembered for his service to the Brevard County community and his commitment to law enforcement.
