WINTER PARK, Fla. — A new center offering specialized services for young children with autism has opened in Winter Park.

Devereux Florida announced the opening of its Autism Specialty Center – Winter Park on Monday. The center will serve up to eight children ages 2 to 6 with autism and related developmental needs.

The center provides Applied Behavior Analysis services using a play-based approach tailored to each child’s needs and family priorities, according to Devereux.

A team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians will help children develop communication, social, self-regulation, daily living and school-readiness skills. The center will also work with parents and caregivers to support children outside the facility.

“We are thrilled to open our Autism Specialty Center to address a growing need in the region for high-quality, evidence-based services for young children,” Devereux Florida Executive Director Michelle Llorens said.

Devereux cited data from the 2022-2023 National Survey of Children’s Health showing that 5.7% of Florida children ages 3 to 17 were reported to have autism, compared with 3.9% nationally.

The center is accepting referrals. Families seeking information may email FLBehavioralSupport@devereux.org.
