• Brevard County mobile home destroyed in fire


    BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - A mobile home in the Sunrise Village community in Cocoa was destroyed in a fire Monday evening.

    Flames could be seen when firefighters responded to the home on Sunhome Street shortly before 7 p.m.

    According to fire officials, the residents smelled a burning odor and were able to escape the fire uninjured.

    Crews were concerned that the fire would spread to nearby mobile homes, but firefighters were able to keep it under control.

    A resident who was in the home when the fire broke out told WFTV a dog died in the blaze. The State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause.
