Amazon Logistics is getting ready to build a new 200,000-square-foot delivery station off Grissom Parkway in Cocoa.

The city of Cocoa hopes construction on the project starts soon and, of course, is looking forward to possible job opportunities for residents.

“Starting pay is about $15 an hour,” Samantha Senger, city of Cocoa public information officer said. “It also gives an opportunity for people to start their own business. They can start their own delivery company if they want.”

The new delivery station will also speed up deliveries across Brevard County.

“They’ll hopefully be operational by November, that’s their plan,” said Cocoa Councilman Rip Dyal. “It’s a tremendous boost for our community right now, for the pandemic and everything that’s going on.”

Amazon has more than 150 delivery stations across the country. This will be its first in Brevard County.

“It’s in a great location, it’s close to 95. It’s going to be a win-win for everybody,” Dyal said.
