Tree trimmer dies, son hurt after being electrocuted in Melbourne Beach, deputies say

MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. — Brevard County deputies said a man died after being electrocuted and his teenage son was injured while tree trimming on Friday.

Deputies said the man was working for a tree trimming service when he was electrocuted at around 11:40 a.m. on Harland Avenue in Melbourne Beach.

The man accidentally made contact with an electric line while trimming trees behind a residence, officials said.

Deputies said the worker’s teenage son was also injured while trying help to his injured father, who was in the bucket of a lift when the accident occurred.

The man was electrocuted was pronounced deceased on the scene and his son was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Due to the incident, Florida Power and Light had to interrupt service to the area in order to avert any further injury to citizens or personnel involved in the investigation.
