Sheriff: Man attacks coworkers with baseball bat, knife leaving 2 dead, 1 critical in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A man has been arrested after attacking people inside a Polk County home with a baseball bat and knife, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Polk County Sheriff’s Grady Judd said Shaun Runyon killed two people and left one in critical condition.

Deputies said Runyon was doing work with Publix cooperation in Lakeland as part of a Pennsylvania electric company.

After punching his supervisor, Runyon fled the job was working and his whereabouts were unknown, deputies said.

Runyon and other workers had been staying at a home in the unincorporated area of Davenport where he return Saturday morning and attacked them, deputies said.

Deputies said he went inside the home and beat and stabbed a total of seven people.

Two of the victims died and one is not expected to survive, deputies said.

“One victim was beaten to death in his bed as he slept,” Judd said.

After running from the home, Runyon was later found at a hospital and was placed under attest, deputies said.

Deputies said Runyon is in custody and there is no threat to the public.
