ORLANDO, Fla. — Doctors and nurses are risking their lives every day as they work on the front lines to save lives in the fight against COVID-19.
Dr. Harleen Anderson and her husband are both physicians in the Orlando area.
Like many other doctors, every night when they get home they strip down on the front step, leaving their contaminated scrubs and shoes behind.

"We then go into the shower and disinfect by using Dial soap and a hypaclens mixture. We then use Listerine just because we heard through the grapevine that it might be helpful. We then wash our hands again, then go and see our family,” Anderson said.
Four hours later, with gloves on, they pick up the pile of clothes and put it directly into the wash on a sterilize cycle.
Anderson said her friends are doing the same. Some leave their scrubs, pager and badge in the back of their cars.

In one home, parents made a barrier between the contaminated side and the clean side.
"Both parents are physicians just like our household. So, they have caution tape up in the middle of their home. The children are staying with the grandparents on one side and the doctors are staying in the other side,” Anderson said.

While it’s important to keep the vulnerable elderly population away from others, Anderson said one family has no other choice because both parents are doctors and they need child care.
"They have breakfast in the morning but they’re at least 10 feet apart in having breakfast in the morning with their children. But they’re not seeing them very much,” Anderson said.
This is just one of the many sacrifices doctors everywhere are making to save as many lives as they can.
