Clermont man sentenced for transporting child porn over Internet

A Clermont man was sentenced to just under 17 years in prison Thursday for transporting child pornography over the Internet.

Police officers in Texas executed a search warrant at a home and discovered child porn on a computer used by a child, according to court documents.

Investigators said the child received images of child porn from Aaron Michael Murray, 23, from a home in Clermont, Fla.

Murray portrayed himself to be a child during online conversations with the child from Texas, investigators said.

A search warrant was executed at Murray’s home and his laptop and iPod Touch were taken and analyzed by FBI agents, according to authorities.

Online chat messages and the email Murray used were recovered along with 250 images and videos depicting child porn, investigators said.

Investigators said Murray’s laptop contained 73 inappropriate images of children, many of which were organized into folders.

The case was a joint effort between the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Ocala and Jacksonville, the Dallas, Texas, Police Department and the Carrollton, Texas, Police Department.

Murray pleaded guilty to his charges and was ordered to 20 years of supervision and to register as a sex offender following his release from prison.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
