Crooks targeting Orange County bank customers, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff's Office is warning bank customers to pay closer attention to their surroundings after recent vehicle burglaries.

There have been 11 reported vehicle burglaries in Orange County this year, deputies said. The victim will leave the bank and the robber follows the customer to their next destination. When the victim leaves the vehicle, the robber breaks in and steals the money, deputies said.

Deputies said the locations of the break-ins and description of the crooks varied in each case.

Deputies ask customers to be vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, consider getting a cashier's check instead of cash, conceal any money as best as possible, do not leave any money in a vehicle, and if possible, go straight home after withdrawing any large amount of cash.

Deputies also ask customers to report any suspicious people in the bank and suspicious vehicles in the bank parking lot as these people might be watching customers to take advantage of them.

Deputies said they're reviewing surveillance videos at nearby businesses of the break-ins in hopes of tracking down the thieves.
