DeBary boy accused of killing mother during argument about grades to be charged as adult

DeBARY, Fla. — The Volusia County teenager accused of killing his mom with the help of two of his friends went before a judge again Friday.

The judge ordered the accused mastermind, 15-year-old Gregory Ramos, to stop calling his stepfather from jail.

The judge said Gregory Ramos has been making repeated calls to his stepfather from behind jail walls, but that came to an end Friday.

Ramos can no longer call his stepfather from jail as his murder case moves forward.

Volusia County deputies said Ramos strangled his mother inside their DeBary home after the two fought over grades.

Detectives said Ramos then enlisted the help of his friends Dylan Clegarek and Brian Porras to stage a break-in at the home to help cover up the crime.

Ramos and Porras remained emotionless in court while Ceglarek broke down in tears when the judge decided to also hold him without bond.

Ramos and his two 17-year-old co-defendants will all be tried as adults in the case.

All of the teens are expected back in court on Dec. 6 for their arraignments.
