ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - NFL running back and Olympia High School graduate Chris Johnson was injured in a drive-by shooting in Orlando, according to reports.
Chris Johnson most recently played for the New York Jets.
The shooting killed another man and injured a third, deputies said.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Southland Boulevard and South Orange Blossom Trail just after 4 a.m.
They arrived to find Dreekius Johnson, 28, dead in a gold Jeep and the two other victims, identified as Reggie Johnson, 30, and Chris Johnson, 29, shot on the sidewalk.
Reggie Johnson was shot in the shoulder, hand and leg, and Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder.
The surviving victims were in stable condition when they were taken to the hospital.
They told investigators they were at a red light when the suspects pulled alongside them in an unknown vehicle and opened fire into the Jeep.
On Monday deputies said they believe the Jeep was targeted but they don't know if any of those in the Jeep were targeted. They did not release a description of the gunman.
Residents in the area were surprised to hear about the shooting.
“A drive-by shooting? Yeah, I’m pretty surprised,” said resident Pedro Disessa.
Investigators will be questioning Chris Johnson and the other surviving victim.
Deputies said none of those in the Jeep are related.
Chris Johnson made headlines in January when he was arrested in Orlando on charges of open carrying of a firearm.
The charge was a second-degree misdemeanor.
