Man arrested after argument leads to shooting in Apopka

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies say a man has been arrested after an argument escalated into deadly gunfire early Sunday morning in Apopka.

The shooting happened in a residential area on Monk Avenue shortly after 1:00 a.m., according to officials.

Shortly after the incident, 33-year-old Arthur Avery peacefully surrendered to deputies, according to the arrest report.

Investigators say the incident started as an argument between the Avery and the victim. At some point, Avery retrieved a gun and shot the victim, a sheriff's spokesman told WFTV.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the arrest report, Avery told deputies he was "in a rage" after being bullied and called names by the victim. Avery told investigators he's been harassed and bullied by the victim for several years.

Avery was transported to the Orange County jail and charged with first degree murder.
