Deputies arrest man accused of carjacking FedEx truck in Osceola County

A man accused of carjacking a FedEx truck in Osceola County and causing a three-hours standoff with deputies was arrested Tuesday evening, officials said.
Deputies said Jonathan Torres, 24, demanded a FedEx truck from a worker several times Tuesday in a Kissimmee neighborhood near Sandalwood Drive.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The driver said Torres was acting irrationally and that he feared for his safety.

Investigators believed he ran inside a home and a three-hour standoff began.
However, when deputies went inside the home around 3:15 p.m, the suspect was nowhere to be found, officials said.

"I saw the Channel 9 truck and I thought, 'Oh my God, holy moly, what's going on here?' Then I see the yellow tape, these cop cars," said neighbor Becky Triaga.

Torres lives with his mother, who ran out of the home during the standoff, deputies said.

Residents could not enter or exit the neighborhood during the standoff.

Deputies said Torres called the mother of his baby, said he was in trouble and asked her to pick him up at a nearby Walgreens. Deputies were there waiting for him and arrested him.
