Deputies investigate incident involving goats, glitter at local high school

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla — Volusia County deputies are investigating after getting reports of a goat being stolen from campus Sunday night.

According to a report, the owner was watching a security feed of her animals on the campus of Pine Ridge High School when she saw five juveniles jump a fence and enter the livestock pen.

The owner told deputies she then watched as several of the individuals grabbed one of her goats and passed it over the fence to another person.

The owner drove to the school to check on her other animals and found the “stolen” goat wandering campus before returning it to its pen.

When deputies arrived at the school, they met with security who showed them birdseed and glitter scattered throughout the courtyard.

Deputies say after completing a report and securing the school, the security guard called to report that several of the juveniles had returned to campus and had wrapped several different objects in toilet paper and plastic wrap as well as covered a stairwell in red solo cups.

The Sheriff’s Office says they believe the incident was part of an end-of-school-year prank and no arrests were made.
