ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are urging parents to check their child's phone after a man was arrested on accusations of sending nude photos to a girl.

Officials said Miguel Rodriguez, 27, used Kik, an app that allows anyone to communicate with strangers, to send photos to the girl.

Detectives said Rodriguez "narrated each movement" while watching the victim and her parents from his car as he was parked near their home.

He told the girl, who is under 15 years old, that she was "looking sexy" when he met her on the app, according to detectives.

"We have to make sure as parents that we know what's going on and that was the key to really opening up this case," Lourdes Clayton, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said.

Court documents said that after the victim was confronted by her mother about messages from someone named "Mikey," the victim told her mother she met with Rodriguez several times, kissed him and that he groped her.

The girl said she represented herself as 15 years old and claimed she was propositioned for a threesome.

Investigators said the victim didn't not send nude photos to Rodriguez.

"You don't know where this could've gone. We may not have ever known, but thankfully we do because a mother was attentive to what the child was doing," Clayton said.

Deputies said they've seen an increase in these cases, but believe it's due to parents being more diligent.

Deputies said they aren't sure if Rodriguez met with anyone else.
