ORLANDO, Fla. — A man was arrested at Orlando International Aiport on Thursday after police said he tried to crawl into the wheel well of a Jet Blue plane because he was trying to get to New York.
Police said a suspicious man, who was not wearing a shirt or shoes and was covered in a greasy substance, was spotted at the airside of OIA about 8 a.m.
The suspect was identified as Demetrice Hall, 32, and police said he was able to get into the restricted area by breaching the fence.
They said he then tried to crawl into the wheel well of a parked airplane when he was discovered by Jet Blue workers.
Hall told police he was trying to get to New York.
“You think 9/11, the anniversary not being too long ago, so it kind of raises some red flags,” said passenger Matt Siegfried.
Even though he was apprehended, passengers said it’s still concerning that Hall was able to get in an area he wasn’t supposed to go.
“A guy like that could put a bomb on an airplane or put any device on the tarmac and cause an accident,” said passenger Sheila Oliveira.
As part of protocol, the FBI responded and questioned Hall.
Hall was arrested and charged with trespassing, burglary, loitering and prowling. He is being held in the Orange County jail.
