FHP: Woman struck and killed by SUV along US-1 in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash near Micco.

7:30 a.m. update:

FHP said a woman died after an SUV struck her along US-1 in south Brevard County early Thursday.

Troopers said the pedestrian was walking within a crosswalk at the intersection of Barefoot Boulevard.

Investigators said the driver the 2011 Kia Soul told them he entered into the intersection on a green traffic signal and did not see the pedestrian before colliding with her.

The pedestrian, 55, of Barefoot Bay, died at the crash site, according to FHP.

The driver of the SUV, 68, of Palm Bay, and his passenger were not hurt and remained on scene, troopers said.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.

State troopers are at the scene of a deadly crash in south Brevard County.

Florida Highway Patrol reported the fatality crash around 5:15 a.m. Thursday at US-1 and Barefoot Boulevard.

As of 6:30 a.m., FHP said there was roadblock on the southbound lanes of US-1.
