ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando flag committee met Monday morning so four finalists could resubmit their proposals for the city's new flag.
The public had already voted and picked a design that showcased the fountain in Lake Eola, but the committee sent the contenders back to the drawing board to tweak their original designs.

Michelle Brennan said she and her fellow committee members were surprised by the public interest.
"We were a little surprised at the amount of public engagement, but we were really thrilled to see people be part of contest," Brennan said. "It shows Orlando is a great community, (that) it's a connected community, a community that wants to be involved."

Once prototypes are made, the public will be able to vote among the four finalists. Voting will be held from May 8 to May 22.
Once the public votes on the flag designs, the flag committee will vote and the proposed design will head to the city council for final approval.
