Officials: Firework debris sparks fire at Disney's Mine Train ride

BAY LAKE, Fla. — Debris from fireworks ignited a small fire on part a popular attraction at Disney's Magic Kingdom Saturday evening, according to park officials.

At around 10:30 p.m., a fire truck was escorted into Magic Kingdom Park to extinguish flames at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train after firework debris ignited the attraction’s decorative material.

Park guests were riding the roller coaster at the time of the fire, but a Disney spokesman said no one was injured.

The fire was difficult to access, but once equipment was set up, flames were quickly extinguished, a Reedy Creek Emergency Services official said.

The pyrotechnic launch site is located in a backstage area about 900 feet behind the attraction, an agency spokesman said.
