Florida man crashes into deputy, gets arrested after leaving license plate behind

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested a Palm Coast man after he leaves his license plate at the scene of a hit and run crash.

On Saturday, just before midnight, a Flagler County Sheriff’s deputy saw two cars racing north on U.S. Highway 1 at 111 miles per hour.

Moments later, one of the drivers lost control of his Nissan 350Z, spinning out and crashing into the deputy’s SUV that was parked in the median.

The impact of the crash caused the air bags on the patrol SUV to deploy.

The driver of the Nissan drove away from the crash scene, leaving the bumper and license plate behind.

Deputies tracked down the driver and arrived at his residence on Rolling Sands Drive just before 23-year-old Brandon Ingram arrived home.

Deputies immediately took Ingram into custody and booked him into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

Endangering the lives of not only others on the road, but of those sworn to protect our community will send you straight to the Green Roof Inn every time,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “Fortunately, he did not seriously injure a deputy sheriff by his stupid actions. This guy obviously isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. He gets into a high-speed wreck, colliding with a law enforcement vehicle and flees. Thankfully, he was just dumb enough to leave his license plate behind.”

Ingram faces charges that include reckless driving, damage to person/property and racing on a highway.
