BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Flooding forced several Brevard County polling places to relocate Tuesday, sending voters to alternate locations as they cast their Election Day ballots.

The Brevard County Supervisor of Elections said the temporary changes were necessary because of extreme flooding. Officials urged voters to confirm their assigned location before heading out.

Voters adjust to changes in Melbourne

Precincts 307, 309, 512 and 525 were moved to New Shiloh Christian Center in Melbourne, which was already serving two other precincts.

Channel 9 saw a steady stream of voters entering and leaving the center Tuesday morning, with lines fluctuating throughout the morning.

Several voters who declined to appear on camera said they arrived after learning their original polling locations had closed because of flooding.

One couple said the change had little impact on their trip because the replacement site was only about 2 or 3 miles from their original location.

Other voters faced more difficult travel conditions. Video from Monday showed flooded roads and stranded vehicles in Palm Bay and Melbourne.
