TAMPA, Fla. — One victim and a suspect are dead after deputies responded to what authorities called an active threat at a Citibank office complex in Brandon on Wednesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a 1:34 p.m. update, the sheriff’s office confirmed both deaths and said deputies were still clearing the building.
What authorities have said
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said investigators believe the incident was targeted, according to The Associated Press. Television footage showed workers streaming out of the office buildings as law enforcement responded.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the victim or suspect in its 1:34 p.m. update.
