This year the Postal Service said it had converted 63,000 pre-career employees into career positions and hired more than 40,000 seasonal positions to help process and deliver the mail.

The Postal Service, which generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations, said since April it has made significant investments to process an additional 4.5 million packages each day.
