In Florida, the average cost per gallon went down three cents Tuesday and is now around $4.76.

And drivers in Florida could soon be seeing a brief reprieve on gas prices.

That’s because President Joe Biden is calling on Congress to pass a “gas tax holiday” this summer.

The federal gas tax is about 18 cents per gallon.

This federal tax holiday would be separate from the one already approved by Gov. Ron DeSantis at the state level.

Starting this October, 25 cents per gallon would be cut for 30 days.

Biden said since the gas tax isn’t a permanent fix, he’s calling on oil companies to do their part.

The gas tax money goes to the Highway Trust Fund to pay for construction and interstate projects.

The White House said, in this case, it won’t impact the fund greatly.
