ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida is suing Netflix for millions of dollars, alleging the streaming platform broke promises regarding user data collection.
The legal action, involving Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, claims the service gathered subscriber information despite commitments not to do so.
The suit focuses on the platform’s advertising practices and its representations to parents regarding account safety features.
Uthmeier stated that Netflix utilizes collected subscriber data to determine which advertisements to display to users on the platform.
The lawsuit also alleges that Netflix misled parents regarding children’s profiles on the streaming service.
