BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A 40-year-old former Satellite High School science teacher was arrested after a yearlong investigation into accusations he asked a student to record herself performing a sex act and send the video to him, officials said.
The accusation against Charles Krininger was made in February 2016, at which point he was placed on administrative leave, Brevard County Schools said.
According to an arrest report, Krininger allegedly asked the student to shoot sexual videos and upload them to a Dropbox account he set up on her phone.
He made her “pinky swear that she would not tell anyone,” the report said.
After investigators sent subpoenas to Google, Dropbox, AT&T and Sprint, they were able to track the IP address used to access the Dropbox account to Krininger, deputies said.
Krininger’s neighbor, Chrystal Lozado, said she knows him from the neighborhood and from time she spent as a lab assistant at the school while he was working as a science teacher.
“I met him at the school,” she said. “I met him here. He’s talked to my dad. He’s come over a couple times.
“I’m, like, in shock about what’s going on, because he’s just seemed like a normal guy.”
Brevard County Schools said it was not the first time Krininger came under scrutiny.
In 2013, he was given a warning and received counseling for making inappropriate and offensive comments to students, the district said.
Kringinger was arrested Wednesday on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
