State leaders discuss improving traffic safety near Camping World Stadium

ORLANDO, Fla. — People who live near Camping World Stadium in Orlando know traffic can be a nightmare, especially during big events.

On Thursday, transportation officials will talk about plans to improve roads near the stadium.

The Central Florida Expressway Authority and the City of Orlando are teaming up to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety at State Road 408 and Tampa Avenue, especially during major events.

Proposed changes include adding ramps, improving sidewalks, crosswalks and lighting, and adding an extra eastbound lane.

If all goes as planned, construction could begin in early 2023.

If you’d like to learn more about the project, you can attend one of two meetings that Central Florida Expressway Authority is hosting on Thursday evening.

An in-person meeting is scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Jones High School in the cafeteria:
