MELBOURNE, Fla. — Harris Corp. is donating $1 million to cover costs of a student design center at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.
Construction is set to begin in February on the single-story building, which will serve university seniors who are completing capstone design projects in engineering or science.
The 11,500-square-foot building will include spray booths, welding stations and areas for parts cleaning and acid etching. It will also house a 2.5-ton overhead crane.
Florida Today reports the building is expected to be ready for the fall semester.
