Health inspection discloses violations at popular Orange Co. restaurant

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — According to state reports obtained by WFTV's Kenneth Craig, during a recent, routine inspection at Ceviche House, a popular Peruvian restaurant in south Orange County, officials found raw chicken and shrimp mixed with ready to eat foods in a freezer.

The report says food was even being stored on the floor (read the report).

According to the report, raw fish the restaurant serves wasn't properly treated for parasites.

Now, the state is taking action and could even force the restaurant to shut down.

"What do you think about them trying to fine you, or maybe even take away your license?" Craig asked restaurant owner Tony Munoz.

"They're not going to do it," said Munoz.

Munoz said the allegations simply aren't accurate.

He said raw food wasn't mixed with other food.

He is so sure the state has it all wrong he allowed Craig and a cameraman inside to take a look at his kitchen and freezer.

Munoz insists that everything is up to code.

"They made it sound like people are going to get pretty sick," Craig told Munoz.

"I know, I know, exactly. I've been here for than five years, nobody was sick," said Munoz.

The owner is fighting the state and has a court hearing coming up where he'll take his case before a judge.

WFTV will continue to follow the case and report on the results.
