Heat wave continues Monday across Central Florida

Central Florida heat advisory returns as temperatures soar into the upper 90s.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is in for another day of dangerous heat as temperatures climb into the mid-to-upper 90s, with heat index values expected to reach between 105 and 110 degrees.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as the prolonged heat wave continues across the region.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including drinking plenty of water, limiting time outdoors during the hottest part of the day and checking on children, older adults and pets.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will also be possible Monday, particularly across the eastern half of Central Florida.

Storms could bring frequent lightning, heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

While the heat will remain a concern through much of the week, there are signs of some relief ahead.

Temperatures could ease back toward more typical summertime levels by the end of the week, providing a small break from the recent stretch of excessive heat.
