JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A northeast Florida jail guard is facing charges after authorities say he smuggled cigarettes and pornography into the facility for an inmate.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports that Brandon Maynard, 42, was arrested Thursday.
Authorities said Maynard met with a woman away from the Duval County Jail to obtain the items, and then delivered them to the inmate in exchange for money.
The sheriff's office reports that it began to investigate Maynard following an unsolicited tip from an inmate in August.
The Florida Times-Union reports that Maynard has been charged with introducing contraband into a detention facility and criminal conspiracy.
