Jaws Jumbo Burgers, a Detroit-based restaurant that is a tribute to the original 1975 summer blockbuster “Jaws,” will open an Orlando location in April, the company announced this week.

Jaws Jumbo Burgers is known for its 100% sirloin burgers that are ground fresh every day in-house and come in single, double or triple-decker “megaladon” sizes.

The idea to expand Jaws Jumbo Burgers came when the owners visited Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios in search of exciting restaurant food concepts, restaurant vice president Paul Porter said in a news release.

“To our disappointment, we noticed there were no exciting restaurants or food attractions that paid tribute to Universal’s classic blockbuster ‘Jaws’,” Porter said. “That was the moment we decided to open Jaws Jumbo Burgers restaurant, located 5 minutes from Universal Studios.”

The Orlando location will feature a digital jumbo-screen shark aquarium, a 10-foot great white shark replica hanging from the ceiling, original “Jaws” movie posters in illuminated display cases and other movie memorabilia.

The exact location of the restaurant will be announced at a later date, Jaws owners said.

Opening Jaws Jumbo Burgers near Universal is a logical choice, as Universal Studios was home to a “Jaws” ride until 2012, when it closed to make room for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion, Diagon Alley.
