Jury convicts Fla. man accused of raping, torturing Daytona Beach woman

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — It took a jury 20 minutes to convict a Putnam County man of kidnapping a woman and torturing her for hours.

Prosecutors said Elmer Bowman grabbed his victim from Daytona Beach in April 2011.

The victim testified Bowman put a knife to her throat and told her not to scream.

She said he then raped and tortured her for 17 hours until he fell asleep and she was able to escape and get help.
