TAVARES, Fla. — Movie lovers can spend Halloween morning watching a classic film while visiting with adoptable cats at the Lake County Animal Shelter.
The shelter is launching “Catinee,” a free monthly series pairing movies with opportunities to socialize with cats and kittens.
The first screening begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the shelter, 12280 County Road 448 in Tavares.
Halloween movie and cat cuddles
The opening event will feature the original 1960 film “The Little Shop of Horrors.”
Guests can also plant cat grass in an activity inspired by the movie’s botanical theme.
The series is intended to introduce residents to adoptable animals and provide socialization opportunities, according to the shelter.
Future events will pair public-domain films with cat visits and creative activities inspired by each movie. Additional dates and titles will be announced later.
How to sign up
Admission is free. Residents can register for the Halloween screening online.
Information about animals available for adoption is on the Lake County Animal Shelter website.
