Lake County deputies investigate after body found in woods

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Lake County deputies are still trying to piece together the events that led to a person’s body being found behind a store.

The body was found in a wooded area behind a Walmart near Four Corners on U.S. 27 in Clermont Friday morning.

Detectives taped off the scene and began searching for clues.

A K-9 was brought in to help with search.

“It’s kind of shocking because nothing like that really happens. It’s mostly a quiet neighborhood,” said resident Andrew Jimenez. "Kind of messes up and it scares people to come around here."

“There’s local homeless camp in the back and there are some transients that live here year-round,” said resident Bill Myers.

Investigators have not released the person’s gender, age or any other details about the body.

They said the death is considered suspicious.
