Lake County man strikes gold in Florida Lottery scratch-off game, becomes millionaire overnight

LEESBURG, Fla. — A Lake County man is a millionaire after winning a $1 million dollar prize from the GOLD RUSH LIMITED scratch-off game from the Florida Lottery.

Edward Haggerty claimed the $1 million prize after purchasing his winning tickets from the Circle K, located at 2211 North Citrus Boulevard in Leesburg.

The Leesburg man chose to receive his winning as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $795,000.

The store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

The $20 game, GOLD RUSH LIMITED, launched in September 2021 and features 32 top prizes of $5 million and 100 prizes of $1 million.

Scratch-off games made up 77% of ticket sales in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
