Lake County residents still reeling from Ian floodwaters brace for Nicole

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Some neighborhoods in Astor are still dealing with flooding left by Hurricane Ian, and now they’re worried about the additional rain Subtropical Storm Nicole could bring.

The water levels are way down in many places, but there is still some flooding in the street.

Even if the storm doesn’t hit Lake County directly, if the area near Saint Johns River sees much rainfall, residents say the water will flow north toward Astor.

Water on the Saint Johns River is currently at moderate flood stage levels, but projections put it back close to major flood levels stage by this weekend.
