GROVELAND, Fla. — Former Groveland Police Chief Shawn Ramsey is no longer employed by the City of Groveland, according to an internal message sent to city employees on Tuesday.

The city plans to bring in a third-party interim police chief to review the department’s operations, policies and finances and provide recommendations within 90 days.

City official Timothy Maslow announced that Kevin Carroll will serve as interim public safety director and Deputy Armando Loney will serve as acting police chief.

“Mr. Ramsey is no longer employed with the City of Groveland,” Maslow wrote. “Carroll will serve as Interim Public Safety Director and Deputy Loney will serve as Acting Police Chief.”

Maslow said the city does not otherwise comment on personnel matters. Channel 9 has filed a public records request for documents concerning Ramsey’s departure and will share more details once the records are received and reviewed.
