LAKELAND, Fla. — An English teacher from Lakeland was arrested Monday night after being accused of having sex with a one of her students, according to Lakeland police.
Jennifer Christine Fichter, 29, was arrested at her home and booked into the Polk County Jail on six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, police said.
According to police, the mother of a 17-year-old boy told police that her son, who attended Central Florida Aerospace Academy in Lakeland, was engaged in sexual activity with Fichter.
Police said Fichter and the boy had been texting each other and meeting in the early morning hours for sex in her car in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
According to police, the mother of the boy saw the text messages and contacted Fichter, who admitted to the encounters and said she loved the boy.
Police said the boy admitted to meeting Fichter for sex six times inside Lakeland city limits and said the two met several time outside the city limits to have sex.
Investigators said Polk and Hillsborough county investigators are also investigating Fichter.
